A core precept of Jeung San Do. A central goal of Sangjenim’s spiritual work—Cheonjigongsa—was the resolution of the bitterness and grief of all spirits and humans that had accumulated throughout the Early Heaven, to facilitate a world of harmony in the Later Heaven. The Korean word for the resolution of bitterness and grief, haewon, may sometimes be translated as “wish fulfillment,” e.g., “This is the age of wish fulfillment, and in this age, My dao shall be conveyed first to the humble and destitute” (Dojeon 8:7:2).
