‘The Woman Who Is the Head of Humans and Spirits’ or ‘The Consort of God.’ With the principle of equal yin and yang at the basis of Cheonjigongsa, Sangjenim needed a consort and successor to complete His work. Go Pan-rye (cousin of Sangjenim’s disciple Cha Gyeong-seok) was this consort, the Subu. (“Nim” is a honorific suffix.) As Sangjenim’s successor, She continued the work after His return to heaven. She is also addressed as Taemonim (“Great Mother”) or as Taemo Go Subunim. See also “Taemonim” and “Taemo Go Subunim.”
