Sang means “highest” and ssireum is traditional Korean wrestling. Therefore, sangssireum connotes the ‘ultimate match,’ analogous to the adult wrestling bouts that climax a ssireum tournament. Sangssireum is a metaphor for the final global conflict of the Early Heaven, a war centered on North and South Korea, which shall end all wars and the Early Heaven’s reign of sanggeuk.
