Myeongbu

Myongbu (명부 冥府) is translated as “heavenly court” meaning “a court of judgment in the hereafter.” Myong (명 冥) means “dark” or “the next world” and bu (부 府) means “administration” or “court.” The Court of Judgment in the Hereafter. It is the spiritual realm that determines a person’s life span, and it is also the first real into which a person enters after death. There, their lives are assessed, judgment is passed on any wrong doings, and appropriate punishment are decreed. While in myeonbu (명부 冥府), the dead also prepare for their lives as spirits.

Among the teachings recorded in the DojeonSangjenim only specifically mentions the Joseon, Chinese, Japanese, and Western myeonbu, but yet also speaks of myeongbu in general.

For example, Sangjenim, as part of His Work of Renewing Heaven and Earth, entrusted Matteo Ricci with the Western Myeongbu and appointed him as the head of the dao of Christianity.

The place in charge of the life and death of humans and spirit is the heavenly court, Myeongbu. It is the place that passes judgment on humans and spirits in accordance with their virtues, accomplishments, and Transgressions.  It is important to correct the order of Myung-bu because Myeongbu is the place of deciding the life and death of humans and spiritis at the time of the Autumn Gaebyeok, when judgment is passed on the civilizations of the last stage of the Early Heaven.

In Jeung San Do’s concept, Myongbu (명부 冥府) is the place in charge of the life and death of humans and spirit is the heavenly court. It is the place that passes judgment on humans and spirits in accordance with their virtues, accomplishments, and transgressions. All affairs in the world are decided in accordance with the judgment made in the work of renewal for myongbu. Confusion in myongbu causes disorder in the world.

(Dojeon 4:4:6)

For Sangjenim, it was important to correct the order of myongbu because myongbu is the place of deciding the life and death of humans and spirits at the time of the Autumn Gaebyeok, when judgment is passed on the civilizations of the last stage of the Early Heaven.

I place Jeon Bong-jun in charge of the Korean Myongbu, Gim Il-bu in charge of the Chinese myongbu, Chey Su-un in charge of the Japanese myongbu, and Matteo Ricci in charge of the Western myongbu. These heads of myongbu will end disorder.
