Gaebyeok

A term derived from the Korean expression cheon-gae-ji-byeok, “heaven opens, earth opens.” The term gaebyeok is principally used when referring to the beginning of a new heaven and earth, but gaebyeok also refers to transformations or renewals that can happen on many other levels (e.g., nature; civilization; an individual’s body, mind, and spirit). In cosmology, gaebyeok is the epochal transition between cosmic seasons, the two foremost of such transitions being the Later Heaven Gaebyeok (the transition from the cosmic summer to the cosmic autumn) and the Early Heaven Gaebyeok (the transition from the cosmic winter to the cosmic spring).
